What the MOXI Laser Does for Sun Spots, Uneven Tone, and Rough Texture
Years of sun tend to show up on your face: more freckles, brown spots, uneven skin tone, and a rough skin texture makeup can’t hide.
MOXI is a gentle form of laser skin resurfacing. It warms a grid of tiny dots in the skin, without removing the surface, and leaves the skin between them untouched.
- Sun spots, age spots, and freckles that fade
- Smoother, more even-looking skin, as the treated dots heal and the surface renews
- Gentle, quick healing, since untouched skin sits between the dots, with most people back to their usual day the same day or the next
- Brown spots and redness treated in one visit, when you pair MOXI with BBL (BBL and MOXI together)
Who MOXI Is Right For, and When Another Treatment Fits Better
- Early sun damage
- Brown spots, freckles, and age spots
- Skin that looks dull, rough, or uneven
- Someone who’s fine with a few days of healing and can come back for a series
- Deep wrinkles or heavy folds
- Significant loose or sagging skin
- Severe acne scarring
- Broken vessels and redness from rosacea
- Active acne
Dr Kang was honest and will inform you if you are or are not a candidate for her services. I would return for more Moxi sessions in the future!

What a MOXI Treatment Is Like, and Your Skin in the Week After
MOXI works as your skin heals. Over brown spots, the treated dots darken and flake away, carrying some pigment out. Underneath, the surface renews and feels smoother.

Could MOXI Darken My Skin? MOXI Side Effects and Skin Tone
It’s a fair worry, so here’s a plain answer. Lasers can change skin color, more often in darker skin. And the published MOXI study enrolled light to medium-brown skin.
The usual reactions are milder: redness, slight swelling, and rough, speckled dots for a few days. At your consultation, we talk through your skin tone and your concern before anything is planned.
I’m so grateful for a clinical spa that cares about the individual and recognizes that every treatment is not for everyone.

Who should wait, or choose another treatment?
It’s better to wait or choose something else if you:Â
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have an active skin infection or an open wound
- Have a recent tan or sunburn
- Want a big change from a single session
If you’ve ever had cold sores, tell our team first.
Before any treatment, we talk through your skin, your history, and your concern at a consultation. Afterward, you’ll have aftercare and sun protection to follow, and you can message us with questions through our app.
Will MOXI work on olive or brown skin?
With lasers in general, darker skin carries a greater risk of pigment changes. The published MOXI study enrolled 27 women with light to medium-brown skin, known as skin types I to IV.
Treatments like MOXI, which warm the skin without removing its surface, can also leave temporary darker or lighter patches, or scarring.
So your skin tone comes first. At your consultation, we talk through your skin tone and the concern that brought you in before anything is planned. One MOXI patient says Dr. Kang tells people plainly whether they’re a candidate.
Common Questions About MOXI
Is MOXI laser worth it?
MOXI is worth weighing if brown spots, uneven tone, or rough texture bother you most. You pay for a short series of treatments, then occasional upkeep visits, rather than one big procedure. It’s a gentle laser with a few days of healing, with less downtime than deeper resurfacing. For deep wrinkles or significant loose skin, MOXI isn’t the right fit.
Should I get MOXI, BBL, or both?
BBL is aimed at color, and MOXI at texture as well as brown spots. BBL, or BroadBand Light, is a light, not a laser. It’s FDA-cleared to treat benign brown spots such as freckles and benign redness from vascular lesions such as rosacea. We offer BBL on its own as TITE FOREVER YOUNG, or both in one visit as TITE ULTIMATE REJUVENATION.
How long do MOXI laser results last?
In a study of 27 women who had two MOXI treatments a month apart, brown spots had lessened at one month and were still improved at three, though some pigment had returned by then. That’s why a MOXI series is usually followed by upkeep every 3 to 6 months.
Does MOXI laser hurt?
Most people describe MOXI as mild warmth or light prickling, a bit like a rubber band’s snap. When your plan calls for it, a numbing cream goes on first. We also offer CRYO NUMB, a numbing infusion before procedures, as an add-on if you’d like more comfort.Â
Can MOXI treat melasma?
Melasma isn’t one of MOXI’s FDA-cleared uses. Melasma can also come back after treatment with lasers like MOXI. If melasma is your main concern, your plan, laser or not, depends on your skin, so we weigh it with you at a consultation.Â
